The annual elections are upon us once again. This year the executive is to see a major change as Jim Costen resigns his position as director after three and a half years of volunteering his time to organize the group.

The director’s position is filled by Tom Bagley, and assistant director Chris Lutz. The rest of the existing executive remains unchanged with additions of Dave Jacobs as our safety officer volunteering for the position of Recruiting Officer as well. Rick Wassing, former recruiting officer, volunteers for the position of Public Relations officer for the group. Pattie White, group secretary, volunteers to be the Ladies of Harley representative. Last but not least, Sylvia Greenough becomes our First Lady Road Captain. Sylvia rides a big twin.

With December here the annual Christmas Dinner and Dance gets under way with a visit from our Regional Director, Randy Davis, our Chapter presented The Children’s Wish Foundation with a cheque for $2,600! This money was raised through the ticket sales and donations. This is the third year the group has raised money for this charity and to date we have given $8,100. At this time we have donated the largest amount of money of any nonprofit organization. Being able to give a terminally ill child the one thing he or she would like to see or do, in the remaining time they have left with their loved ones puts a feeling of great satisfaction and pride in the hearts of the ever so often stereotyped biker.

This has been the five year history of Central Chapter Nova Scotia Harley Owners Group. If the past five years are any indication of what is to come, our new members have lots to look forward to. When you attend your next monthly meeting just remembers as you look around the room, there are “no stranger’s only friends you haven’t met”! Keep your knees in the wind and the shiny side up but most of all enjoy life and have fun.

Sincerely Yours,

Everett Turner (E.T.)
